Doubling down on spermidine

Doubling down on spermidine

Why we boosted your Hourglass Tipper

Don't you love it when a package shows up on your doorstep that you don't remember ordering, but when you open it, it's exactly what you didn't know you needed? That's exactly what's happening with your next HOP Box.

In our latest manufacturing run, we’ve doubled the spermidine dose in your Hourglass Tipper from 0.5mg to 1mg per pack, giving you 2mg daily instead of 1mg. Same price, better formula. You didn't ask for it, but trust us, your cells are going to thank you.

Why the change?

Because the science keeps getting better, and we're committed to delivering doses that match what's actually working in human studies.

The human evidence

Here's what we know from actual human research: people who consume more spermidine in their diets live longer. Large epidemiological studies tracking thousands of people over many years have found that higher dietary spermidine intake is associated with reduced cardiovascular mortality and lower cancer-related deaths.

But, we don't just care about population data. We want to know what happens when people actually supplement. And that's where things get interesting.

What happens when humans take spermidine?

In pilot clinical trials, people taking spermidine supplements showed improvements in several key biomarkers of healthy aging.

  • Reduced inflammation. Lower levels of hs-CRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein), a key marker of systemic inflammation.
  • Better cardiovascular markers. Decreased VLDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • Enhanced autophagy biomarkers. Evidence that your cells' cleanup and renewal processes are getting a boost.
  • Neuroprotection. Increased BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), which supports brain health and cognitive function.

Studies have also found potential benefits for cognitive function and protection against age-related cognitive decline, particularly important as we all work to keep our minds sharp.

Why 2mg daily?

Human clinical trials have used doses ranging from 1.2mg to 3.3mg daily, with the higher doses showing the most significant improvements in autophagy and cardiometabolic markers. Our new 2mg daily dose puts you solidly in the clinically studied range - above the minimum effective dose while remaining well within the safe and well-tolerated levels observed in human trials.

Here's the honesty part: spermidine bioavailability is complex. Research shows that when you take spermidine orally, much of it gets converted to another polyamine called spermine before it reaches your bloodstream. This means we may not see huge spikes in blood spermidine levels even with supplementation. But here's the thing: the clinical benefits are still there. People in these studies are experiencing real improvements in inflammation, metabolism, and cellular health markers, regardless of what's happening to plasma levels.

The bottom line

This is the HOP way: we don't just follow trends or rely on test-tube studies. We wait for human evidence, we stay honest about what we know (and what we don't), and then we optimize. The research on spermidine is still evolving, but what we've seen so far in actual humans is compelling enough to justify this increase.

Your Hourglass Tipper just got even better at tipping those sands of time.

Now, HOP to it!
